After Germany’s defeat in the First World War, the country was plunged into the humiliation of the Treaty of Versailles, economic collapse, and deep social resentment. Amid poverty, inflation, and a widespread feeling of betrayal, a desire for national revenge grew, transforming collective pain into ideology. The Weimar Republic, weak and divided, failed to stabilize the country, while the military kept alive the dream of rebuilding a strong, militarized Germany. It was in this volatile environment that a former soldier named Adolf Hitler found the perfect ground to turn national resentment into a totalitarian political movement.
