The Arājs Kommando, a Latvian auxiliary police force led by Victor Arājs, played a brutal and pivotal role in the Holocaust. Driven by a mix of ambition, antisemitism, and opportunism, they actively participated in the rounding up, dehumanization, and mass murder of over 26,000 Latvian Jews, most notably in the Rumbula and Liepāja massacres.
