UN Peacekeeping Service & Sacrifice
Germany is a major supporter of UN peacekeeping and has sent peacekeepers to serve missions around the world since 1992. Over 400 Germany peacekeepers are currently deployed in Gao, northern Mali, with the mission MINUSMA. They support the mission’s mandate of stabilizing the country and supporting a peace agreement between the Malian government and armed groups.
