The BRUTAL Execution Of German Soldiers Of Leningrad

The BRUTAL Execution Of German Soldiers Of Leningrad

The Siege of Leningrad, one of the most tragic chapters of World War II, lasted 872 days, from September 8, 1941, to January 27, 1944. The siege was a result of Operation Barbarossa, Nazi Germany’s massive invasion of the Soviet Union, which began on June 22, 1941. Operation Barbarossa was the largest military operation in history in terms of manpower and casualties. Hitler’s forces, breaking a non-aggression pact with Stalin, launched a surprise attack that brought 3.8 million Axis soldiers across a 3,000-kilometer front. The invasion was supported by a huge number of vehicles and horses, with the goal of crushing Soviet forces and capturing key territories, including the vital city of Leningrad.
