During World War II, both sides sought a quick victory. Germany initially tried to cut British supply lines with U-boats, while the Allies bombed German cities. Meanwhile, on the Eastern Front, the Soviet Union’s massive army steadily pushed back Hitler’s forces, who suffered from his poor military decisions.
