It was used to execute thousands during the period of time known as ‘The Terror,’ but in the centuries after the guillotine was used to execute criminals in France. But the final woman to be executed on the device with the slanted blade was Germaine Leloy-Godefroy who plotted and carried out a horrific murder of her husband.<br /> Germaine Godefroy fell in love with a younger man and she plotted to kill her husband and run off with the man she had an affair with. She would take an axe and would brutally slay her husband and with this she was sentenced to death.
