What Did the Germans Do with the Captured Soviet Soldiers?

During World War II, the treatment of captured Soviet soldiers by the Germans was among the most brutal in history. Following Operation Barbarossa in 1941, millions of Red Army soldiers fell into German hands, but unlike prisoners from Western nations, they were not granted protection under the Geneva Conventions. The Nazi leadership viewed Soviet prisoners as subhuman and treated them with extreme cruelty. Many were executed immediately upon capture, especially political commissars and Jewish soldiers, in accordance with Hitler’s Commissar Order. Credit to: Der Kommandant English
