Buchenwald Concentration Camp was a huge site in which thousands of prisoners during the Second World War were sent to. It’s believed that over 50,000 people died within the barbed wire fences of Buchenwald, but the camp was liberated by the Americans and the US Army in April 1945. What the US forces found was shocking and it haunted the memories of those liberating soldiers for many years to come.
