One of Ireland’s most sacred sites is where St Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, set up his first church. They are also digging up medieval finds, including roof tiles and glass, which indicate a high-status building. They soon identify the large double ditch which originally enclosed the monastery complex. A fascinating trip for the team as they traveled to Downpatrick in Northern Ireland to excavate one of Britain’s most important religious sites.
