The Battle of Rotterdam (1940) was part of the German invasion of the Netherlands in May 1940. Far behind the expected front line Dutch marines and infantry had to fight an enemy that came from the sky. It culminated to the infamous bombing of Rotterdam that left the city centre in ruins.
