New Generation of Guided Missile Destroyers
The Zumwalt-class is a representative of a new generation of guided missile destroyers, incorporating the latest solutions in the field of military shipbuilding: stealth, missile systems, artillery, new power plants and advanced electronics.
The ships were created as part of a program to replace both the obsolete destroyers of the previous generation, and the retired battleships with their powerful artillery.
The problem of the project is its excessive complexity and cost, which limited the implementation and series production of ships. As part of the project, 3 ships were created, the main one of which is the DDG-1000 Zumwalt.
